Ron Paul: Let It Not Be Said That No One Cared

Alcohol didn’t cause the high crime rates of the ‘20s and ‘30s, Prohibition did. And drugs do not cause today’s alarming crime rates, but drug prohibition does… Trying to wage war on 23 million Americans who are obviously very committed to certain recreational activities is not going to be any more successful than Prohibition was.

Your video shows in action what empowered states and cities do when they are overly-empowered. And Ron Paul, more than any other candidate, wants to relinquish virtually all enforcement power to the states. Federal law, our Justice Department, and federal courts, often protect us from police excesses. States and cities have a long and sordid history of ignoring Constitutional rights. It took the National Guard to assure that children of color would be safe attending integrated schools in the south, and that people could peacefully protest, when local authorities stood in their way. Good video. But it only shows what happens when there is no federal government to assure equal treatment or personal freedom. Last I checked, there were no federal soldiers or goons preventing us from enjoying our Constitutional rights. I actually worry more about local politicians, police and some of our neighbors. It is a sad fact that there are those who would use any means to have their way, mandate behavior, and oppress people they dislike.
